chance of purchasing recreational property within the next 10 years.
About 190,000 new vacation homes and home sites are
developed and marketed each year.
Almost 3,050 vacation ownership resorts now exist
worldwide, containing over 157,000 units.
Over 560,000 households have purchased 845,000
vacation ownership intervals during the last two years representing a sales volume of more
than $7 billion.
$3 billion is spent by vacation owners in annual
consumer expenditures while vacationing at vacation ownership resorts. Further, they
generate $6 billion additional annual sales receipts in local resort areas from the
multiplier effect.
The U.S. vacation ownership industry is responsible
for directly and indirectly creating over 400,000 jobs and about $890 million in payroll.
About 580 private outdoor camp resorts exist in the
U.S. with more than 450,000 family owners.
